An Act to amend the provisions of the Entry, Residence and Departure Act 1971-72

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Cook Islands in Session assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

1. Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Entry, Residence and Departure Amendment Act 1995 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Entry, Residence and Departure Act 1971-72 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act").

2. Entry permits not required in certain cases

Section 12 of the principal Act is amended by repealing section 12(1)(c) and inserting the following new subsections:

"(b) any person in the service of the Government of any country who enters the Cook Islands at the invitation of, or with the prior knowledge of the Government of the Cook Islands, for the purposes wholly or principally of carrying out some official duty or performing some official function; or
(c) any person in the service of the United Nations or any of its specialised agencies who enters the Cook Islands at the invitation of or with the prior knowledge of the Government of the Cook Islands for the purposes, wholly or principally of carrying out some official duty or performing some official function; or
(d) any person in the service of any of the regional bodies or organisations as may be specified by Order in Executive Council who enters the Cook Islands at the invitation of or with the prior knowledge of the Government of the Cook Islands for the purposes, wholly or principally of carrying out some official duty or performing some official function;
(e) any bona fide visitor to the Cook Islands."
