An Act to amend the House of Arikis Act 1966 by adding a new Part providing for meetings of kavana, mataiapo and rangatira

BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Assembly of the Cook Islands in Session assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1. Short Title - This Act may be cited as the House of Arikis Amendment Act 1972 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the House of Arikis Act 1966 (hereinafter referred to ns "the principal Act").
2. New Part added - The principal Act is hereby amended by adding after section 20 a new Part as follows:
"PART II
Koutu Nui
21. Interpretation - In this Part unless the context otherwise requires –
"Kavana" means a person entitled to hold office as a kavana in accordance with custom in the Cook Islands;
"Mataiapo" means a person entitled to hold office as a mataiapo in accordance with custom in the Cook Islands;
"Rangatira" means a person entitled to hold office us a rangatira in accordance with custom in the Cook Islands."
