An Act to amend the Juries Act 1968

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Cook Islands in Session assembled and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. Short Title - This Act may be cited as the Juries Amendment Act 1984 and shall be read with and deemed part of the Juries Act 1968 (hereinafter called the "principal Act").

2. Interpretation - Section 2 of the principal Act is amended by inserting before the definition of "Registrar" the following definition -

""Chief Electoral Officer" means the Chief Electoral Officer appointed pursuant to section 3 of the Electoral Act 1966;"

3. Preparation of jury list - Subsection (1) of section 3 of the principal Act (as amended by section 2 of the Juries Amendment Act 1976) is amended by deleting the words "Chairman of each District Council in Rarotonga as established under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1966 and amendments thereto" and substituting the words "Chief Electoral Officer".
