Accused in person
SENTENCE
The Accused has not indicated any mitigating factors to influence this Court in arriving at the appropriate sentence to be imposed against him on the four counts of Obtaining Money By False Pretences.
It is clear from this case that Accused is very well conversant with Banking procedures. Mrs Angeline Ram had spoken very well of him while testifying in Court. However he has also betrayed the trust placed on him by his superiors and employer. The amounts involved are quite substantial a total amount of $6900.
I noticed that Accused has a previous conviction but is not akin to the offences for which he is being convicted. These offences are quite serious and in my view a custodial sentence is called for.
The sentence of this Court is as follows:
4th Count - 3 years
5th Count - 3 years
6th Count - 3 years
9th Count - 1 year
All terms to be served concurrently.
R.A. 28 days
