Marriage (Amendment) Regulations 2009

IN exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 38 of the Marriage Act (Cap. 50), and with the approval of the Minister for Justice, I hereby make these Regulations -

Citation

1.-(1) These Regulations maybe cited as the Marriage (Amendment) Regulations 2009.

(2) In these Regulations the "Principal Regulations" means the Marriage Regulations.

Regulation 7 amended

2. Regulation 7 of the Principal Regulations is amended by deleting "21" and "36" and substituting "19 "and "34" respectively.

Second Schedule amended

3. The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is amended -

(a) by repealing FORM No. 3, FORM No. 4 and FORM No. 5;

(b) by renumbering FORM Nos, "6", "7", "8", "9", "10", "11" as "3", "4", "5", "6", "7", "8" respectively;

(c) in FORM No. 6 by -

(i) deleting "sections 16 and 21" in the heading and substituting "sections 14 and 19";

(ii) deleting "21 years" wherever it occurs and substituting "18 years";

(iii) deleting the words the words "And I further declare that I am a minor under the age of 21 years and that the consent of .........., whose consent to my marriage is required by law, has been obtained";

(iv) deleting the words "And I further declare that the other party named herein and described is a minor under the age of 21 years and that the consent of ........ whose consent to his/her marriage is required by law , has been obtained";

(d) in FORM No. 7 by deleting "Section 19" and substituting "Section 17";

(e) in FORM No. 8 by -

(i) deleting "Section 21" wherever it occurs and substituting "Section 19";

(ii) deleting "21 years" wherever it occurs and substituting "18 years";

(iii) deleting the words "And I/we further state that the said ...................is a minor under the age of 21 years and that the consent of ................. whose consent to my/his/her marriage is required by law, has .been duly obtained thereto" in both places where they occur;.

(f) in FORM No. 9 by deleting "Section 21" where it occurs in the heading and substituting "Section 19" and deleting "section 21" where it occurs thereafter and substituting "section 19";

(g) in FORM Nos. 10 and 11 by deleting "Section 25" and substituting "Section 23".
