CUSTOMS (AMENDMENT) ACT 2020

An Act to amend the Customs Act 2014.

Enacted by the Parliament of Nauru as follows:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Customs Act (Amendment) Act 2020.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on certification by the Speaker.

3 Amendment of the Customs Act 2014

The Customs Act 2014 is amended by the provisions of this Act.

4 Amendment of Section 4

Section (4)(1) is amended by deleting the words ‘Republic of Nauru Customs Office’ and substituting with the words ‘Nauru Customs Service’.

5 Amendment of Section 8

Section 8 is amended by deleting the words ‘Nauru Customs’ and substituting with the words ‘Nauru Customs Service’.

6 Amendment of Section 315

Section 315 is amended by deleting the words ‘Controller of Customs’ and substituting with the words ‘Chief Collector of Customs’.

7 General amendment as to references

Any reference to:

(a) ‘Republic of Nauru Customs’ in any written law shall be referred to as ‘Nauru Customs Service’;

(b) ‘Chief Collector’ in any written law shall be referred to as ‘Chief Collector of Customs’;

(c) ‘Nauru Customs’ in any written law shall be referred to as ‘Nauru Customs Service’.
