Enacted by the Parliament of Nauru as follows:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Parliamentary Pension (Amendment) Act 2016.

2 Commencement

This Act commences upon certification by the Speaker.

3 Amendment of Parliamentary Pension Act 2008

The Parliamentary Pension Act 2008 is amended by the provisions of this Act.

4 Amendment of section 8

(1) Section 8 is amended by inserting a new subsection 4(A) as follows:

4(A) In addition to payments provided for under the preceding subsections, a former Member of Parliament shall be entitled to a payment of $5000 per annum for each year of service if he or she has served as a Member of Parliament for 30 continuous years.
