AN ACT

entitled

Public Services (Management) (Amendment) Act 2022,

Being an Act to amend the Public Services (Management) Act 1995, and for related purposes,

MADE by the National Parliament to come into operation in accordance with a notice in the National Gazette by the Head of State, acting with, and in accordance with, the advice of the Minister.

1. INTERPRETATION (AMENDMENT OF SECTION 2).

Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended by repealing the definition of "Secretary" and replacing it with the following new definition:

""Chief Secretary to Government" means the Chief Secretary to Government under Section 19 of the Prime Minister and National Executive Council Act 2002;".

2. RESPONSIBILITIES OF DEPARTMENTAL HEADS (AMENDMENT OF SECTION 24).

Section 24 of the Principal Act is amended in Subsection (1) Paragraph (ca) by repealing the words "the Secretary" and replacing them with the following:

"the Chief Secretary to Government".

3. WORK PERFORMANCE OF DEPARTMENTAL HEADS (AMENDMENT OF SECTION 24A).

Section 24A of the Principal Act is amended in Subsections (1), (2), (3) and (4) by repealing the words "the Secretary" and replacing them with the following, whenever occurring:

"the Chief Secretary to Government".

4. PROCEDURES RELATING TO SUBSTANTIVE APPOINTMENTS OF DEPARTMENTAL HEADS (AMENDMENT OF SECTION 31A).

Section 3lA of the Principal Act is amended -

(a) in Subsection (6) by repealing the word "Secretary" and replacing it with the following:

• "Chief Secretary to Government"; and

(b) in Subsection (7) by repealing the words "the Secretary" and replacing them with the following:

• "the Chief Secretary to Government".
