TAXIS (AMENDMENT) ACT
No. 10 OF 1992

An Act to amend the Taxis Act [CAP 49].

BE IT ENACTED by the President and Parliament as follows:-

AMENDMENT OF SECTION 6 OF CHAPTER 49

1. Section 6 of the Taxis Act [CAP 49] in this Act referred to as the principal Act is amended in paragraph (e)of subsection (1) by deleting the words "approved by the Minister or by a person authorized in that behalf," and substituting the words "as may be prescribed by the Minister under this Act".

AMENDMENT OF SECTION 9 OF THE PRINCIPAL ACT

2. Section 9 of the principal Act is amended in subsection (4), by deleting the words "purposes of section 6(1)(e)" and substituting the words "purposes of section 6(1)(e) and it complies with the technical requirements as may be prescribed by the Minister under this Act."

AMENDMENT OF SECTION 13 OF THE PRINCIPAL ACT

3. Section 13 of the principal Act is amended-

(a) in subsection (1) by deleting the words "of those prescribed in Schedule 8." at the end of that subsection, and substituting the words "of those prescribed by the Minister under this Act.";

(b) by repealing subsection (2);

(c) in subsection (3), by deleting the words "prescribed in the said Schedule." at the end of that subsection, and substituting the words "prescribed by the Minister under this Act."

AMENDMENT OF SECTION 16 OF THE PRINCIPAL ACT

4. Section 16 of the principal Act is amended in paragraph (c) by deleting the words "provisions of section 6(1)(e);" at the end of that paragraph and substituting the words "provisions of section 6(1)(e) and in compliance with the technical requirements prescribed by the Minister under this Act;".

REPEAL OF SCHEDULE 8 TO THE PRINCIPAL ACT

5. The Schedule 8 to the principal Act is hereby repealed.

COMMENCEMENT

6. This Act shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.
