VALUE ADDED TAX (AMENDMENT) ACT NO. 34 OF 2014


An Act to amend the Value Added Tax Act [CAP 247].
Be it enacted by the President and Parliament as follows-


1 Amendment
The Value Added Tax Act [CAP 247] is amended as set out in the Schedule.


2 Commencement
This Act commences on 1 January 2015.

(b) consumable and non-consumable goods when one sample of any one line of goods (including sample of a set) or one sample each of the same line but in different sizes are imported, provided that the total value for duty of any one consignment does not exceed 10,000 VT.

(c) goods other than those covered in the preceding sub-paragraph (b) when mutilated by and with the consent of the importer prior to delivery from Customs control;
Provided that the Director may at his discretion direct that more than one parcel addressed to the same person or several persons be treated as a single parcel and duty assessed accordingly; (Such headings as the Director of Customs may approve).
