AN ACT to amend the stamp duties payable to government under the Stamp Duties Ordinance 1932.

BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Assembly of Samoa in Parliament assembled as follows:-

1. Short title and commencement-(1) This Act may be cited as the Stamp Duty Amendment Act 1999 and shall be read with and form part of the Stamp Duty Ordinance 1932 (the "principal Act").

(2) This Act shall come into force on the 29th May 1999 and accordingly shall have retrospective effect.

2. Amendment to Stamp Duty Rates - The Schedule to the principal Act is amended as follows-

(a) By deleting the amount of stamp duty relating to each of the Items specified in the Schedule and replacing them with $20.00 in each case; and

(b) By deleting the amount of $2.00 from Item 12 and replacing it with $5.00.

SCHEDULE

Items Nos 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10(d), 11, 13, 16(a), and also the reference to the amount of $2.00 in the proviso to Item 10.
